It was the US National Seniors Tournament held in the year 1974 where this gentleman had driven a ball for 515 yards. On coming across this instance, some PGA champions called it an impossible task.

• The game of Golf has also left its traces on the moon. It was 1967, February 6, when Alan Bartlett went for a swing and that also single-handedly with the help of a six-iron. The ball was flown past through the low-gravity atmosphere of the moon. However, apart from golf, another sport that has been recorded to be played on the moon was Javelin Throw.

• The first golf balls were made of solid wood, and that is a fact. To be precise, the balls were made out of box trees, beech and hardwood. The wooden golf balls made their appearance during the 14^th century and continued staying into action till the 17^th Today, if wooden golf balls were really been the options for play, they had to replaced almost after every game. However, quite surprisingly, feather-made golf balls were introduced during this era of wooden balls. They called Feathery, which was nothing but a leather pouch stuffed with goose feathers. If they would have existed today, their cost would have been something around $20.

• Golf was always perceived as a sport that would stand equivalent to outstanding workouts. It has always been known to burn tons of calories and yet building stronger muscles. Since golfers had to take long walks throughout the course, this sport has always been acclaimed as a fitness game. As per reports, it was said that golf is such a magical game in terms of health that it will burn not less than four hundred and thirty one calories per hour of a golfer weighing at least 190 pounds. However, the condition is that he has to take a walk across the entire course and not ride a golf cart.

• A few years ago, the government of China imposed a ban of all newly developed golf courses. However, it is fortunate that this has not been maintained as local communities and several cities are still making new golf courses throughout the country. To avoid complicating matters, the course developers are not stating the fact that they are building courses as per proposed plans.
